  • Mann Made sponsors bikes in local Manx Grand Prix

Mann Made was delighted to help two motorcycle racers, Davy Morgan and Joe Phillips with their expenses and running costs in this year's Manx Grand Prix.  The race has been held on the world famous TT Mountain Course since 1923, and is commonly viewed as a stepping stone to the world famous TT races held in June. One notable difference is the lack of sidecars but the roar of classic bike racing at the August event more than makes up for the loss  of the 3-wheelers.

A new addition to Mann Made's team, Kevin Wood, has been supporting the event for years.  He said: "The "Manx" is a friendly event that attracts real enthusiasts year after year. It's really part of the Island's heritage and so it's great to be a part of it and to do something positive about making the event a success. There's no better way of doing this, than by putting competitive racing machines on the grid and that's exactly what we've done this year.  Both of our riders are very experienced and more than capable of good results come race day, although with over 150 miles of racing on the Island's public roads ahead of them, you do need that vital element of luck once the flag drops".

Alan Hollingsworth confirmed that Mann Made was pleased to take part in such an important local event like the MGP for the first time with both riders competing in the same race, albeit in different sub-classes which made for an exciting time for Mann Made guests on the Grandstand.  Davy Morgan rode a 250cc Honda and Joe Phillips campaigned a 650 Kawasaki in the ultra-lightweight race on the last day of the festival.  Unfortunately for Davy, his little Honda overheated and lost power on the run towards Ballaugh Bridge on lap two whilst leading the race by just a fraction of a second.  With two laps to go, Davy had no real choice other than to pull in and bring his 2010 Manx Grand Prix to a disappointing finish.

Meanwhile, Joe Phillips rode consistently for the four laps and outfoxed the timekeepers by stopping for fuel at the end of lap one, which made it difficult to slot him into the overall leaderboard until the beginning of lap four.  Joe went on to finish in a commendable third place with a total race time of (1:23.06.45).  Joe's elevation to the winners rostrum gave the chance for the Mann Made team and their guests to savour some victory champagne and for riders to swap tales in the beer tent at the rear of the Grandstand.

  • Mann Made Group celebrates its 5th birthday in style...

Mann Made Group's recent celebration of its 5th birthday at the Sefton Hotel in Douglas, marked much more than a numerical milestone.  It was an acknowledgement of the company's impressive journey from a small group of dedicated professionals, determined to break the mould of the stuffy, impersonal corporate entity, to a truly independent, forward thinking provider of Corporate and Trust services with a highly motivated team of 25 like-minded people.

Founder and Managing Director, Alan Hollingsworth addressed a large audience of invited guests and professional associates and spoke of his pride at what has been achieved, and his appreciation of the efforts and commitment of his colleagues throughout the company.  He also praised the Manx government for creating an environment in which business could prosper.

From day one Mann Made offered a different approach and philosophy to many of its larger rivals.  Gone were the stuffy offices and suits.  Instead the company offered a friendly, approachable face with a personalised service delivered by skilled professionals in casual clothing. This fresh approach, coupled with an uncompromising commitment to providing a high quality service soon proved popular with professional advisors and high-net worth individuals and families.

Mann Made has steadily raised its profile and increased its client list by combining the flexibility of a small group with a level of professionalism normally only associated with much larger organisations.  As part of its progressive strategy the company has opened a London office (Mann Made Corporate Services (UK) Ltd) in the heart of the city on King's Cross Road.

The company's successful business model drew praise from Chief Minister Tony Brown, who was the special guest at the birthday celebrations at the Sefton.  He said he was personally very pleased to see how the company had developed, and made specific reference to Mann Made's commitment to the local community through its support for organisations such as The Children's Centre: 'We in the Isle of Man work very hard and try to uphold the highest standards in what we do,' said the Chief Minister.  'The contribution made by companies like Mann Made is very important.  I would like to congratulate Alan and his team on reaching this 5th anniversary and wish you many more successful years.'

  • Race the Sun

Race the Sun, sponsored by Mann Made Group in aid of the Isle of Man Children's Centre, involved each team completing a clockwise relay running lap of the near 100 mile Raad ny Foillan coastal footpath, between sunrise and sunset on the last Saturday in June. Most of the teams who entered, opted for their full quota of 10 competitors, ensuring no individual runner had to cover more than 10 miles. It's been estimated that at least £3,500 has been collected in sponsorship from the 2009 Race the Sun which will go towards Mobex, the IOMCC's mobile outdoor education facility for young people. IOMCC Chief Executive John Knight not only took part in the race but also declared the event a major success. "I'm proud that Race the Sun is now firmly established in the Isle of Man's sporting calendar. This year we attracted 12 teams involving well over 100 competitors." Mann Made Group is planning to support this event for the next 5 years.
